Worldwide Analog Camera Shipments to Near 44 Million by 2014, Says In-Stat

Surveillance systems use video cameras designed to different specifications and packaged in various enclosures depending on a number of variables. Cameras are also categorized by the data type and format communicated to the rest of the system. Analog cameras use linear signals, while network cameras provide streams of digital data. Analog cameras continue to lead the surveillance camera market mainly due to the cost associated with new installations or upgrades to network cameras. Recent In-Stat research forecasts that worldwide unit shipments of security analog cameras will reach nearly 44 million by 2014, but the rate of growth in network cameras will eventually surpass analog cameras.  read more
