SMB Network-attached Storage Revenues to Reach $2 Billion in 2015, Says In-Stat

According to a recent In-Stat survey, more than seven in ten small and medium-size businesses that use cloud-based storage solutions also use networked-attached storage (NAS). While SMB NAS represents a smaller portion of the total NAS market, SMB NAS is expected to grow at a much faster rate over the forecast period with revenues reaching US$2 billion in 2015, says In-Stat. read more

Worldwide Analog Camera Shipments to Near 44 Million by 2014, Says In-Stat

Surveillance systems use video cameras designed to different specifications and packaged in various enclosures depending on a number of variables. Cameras are also categorized by the data type and format communicated to the rest of the system. Analog cameras use linear signals, while network cameras provide streams of digital data. Analog cameras continue to lead the surveillance camera market mainly due to the cost associated with new installations or upgrades to network cameras. Recent In-Stat research forecasts that worldwide unit shipments of security analog cameras will reach nearly 44 million by 2014, but the rate of growth in network cameras will eventually surpass analog cameras.  read more

In-Stat: H.264 Decoder ICs to Grow 20 Percent Annually through 2013

H.264 decoders are beginning to appear in many solutions and the compression scheme is becoming more popular. Satellite-set top boxes continue to be the largest market for H.264 decoder ICs. In addition more and more DTVs are using H.264 decoder ICs rather than only MPEG-2. As a result, In-Stat expects H.264 decoder ICs to grow at an annual rate in excess of 20 percent through 2013. read more
