IT Vendors Benefit from Crossover in Enterprise Video Storage


IMS Research forecasts strong growth for the world market for external enterprise storage platforms used for video surveillance, with an average annual growth rate of 52 percent for storage capacity shipped from 2010 to 2016. In comparison, internal enterprise storage platforms are forecast to see 36 percent growth over the same period. Despite the strong growth for both storage platforms, external storage is forecast to displace internal storage as the dominant storage platform in 2014. Read more

Mansfield University Improves Dorm Security With Integration of Axis IP Video and Keycard System


Mansfield University, a state college in upstate Pennsylvania, wanted a better way to balance student freedom with residence hall security. Despite dormitory policy, students often left doors propped open while going in and out of the dorms, jeopardizing the safety of everyone living in the buildings. Residence Life administrators decided that installing a keycard access system tied to video surveillance would reduce the university's potential liability while improving security in the co-ed housing facilities.Read more

Boissy joins 3VR from IBM where he was director of go-to-market strategy and industry marketing for WebSphere enterprise software. Boissy, with more than 20 years of technology marketing experience, previously served as VP of worldwide marketing for ILOG, a supplier of business rule management systems, where he guided the company on a double-digit growth path resulting in an acquisition by IBM in July 2008. Prior to ILOG Boissy ran product marketing and product management at SunGard Trading and Risk and at Infinity Financial Technology, which was acquired by SunGard in 1997. He began his career at Paris-based Diagram Financial Software, now part of Thomson Reuters. Read more

HD Camera Grow Market Share for In-Car Police Video Surveillance, Says IMS Research


IMS Research forecasts that despite police department budgets coming under increasing pressure across the USA, the HD (High Definition) camera market onboard police cars is set to grow at over 20 percent over the next four years. This is just one of the findings from IMS Research's latest report on the mobile video surveillance equipment market.
Currently 4RE solution is the only HD solution specifically designed for the police in-car video surveillance market. However, a number of other mobile video surveillance equipment manufacturers are currently developing HD solutions, with release dates ranging from between nine and twelve months. Read more

After a slight downturn in 2009 due to the worldwide economic conditions, the video surveillance equipment market returned to healthier levels and continued to improve. Boosted by 2011 sales, the market has witnessed the rise of the IP camera, which is about to overtake the long-established analog camera in revenues.
