The South St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) recently completed
a project designed to enhance fire safety for two high-rise apartment buildings.
The improvements were made possible by a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant of
nearly $530,000, awarded to the organization in June 2011 by the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In 2010, approximately $780,000 in Fire
Prevention and Safety Grants were awarded to Minnesota organizations. Read more

Axis Monitors Petrochemical Company in Northeast China
The IP surveillance system of the northeastern petrochemical company was put
into operation initially at the end of 2004 with 84 surveillance points. After
gradual expansions each year, it has now reached a total of over 500
surveillance points. The IP surveillance system promoted the cooperation between
internal and external daily operations, realized continuous inspection, and has
discovered the cause of several dozen incidents, providing evidence for many

Migration to IP Affects EMEA Intrusion Detection Market, Says Frost & Sullivan
The migration from public switched telecommunications network (PSTN) to Internet Protocol (IP) throughout the security sector will influence the capabilities of intrusion detection systems (IDS). This migration will enable the integration of video verification, as well as compel telecom service providers to incorporate IDS into their communications services. The strategy will not only reduce false alarms but also provide another distribution channel for IDS.
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan finds that the market earned revenues of $2 billion in 2010 and estimates this to reach $2.11 billion by 2017, mostly driven by revenues from the residential, commercial and critical infrastructure segments. Read more
